I found this piece of work online it is from the tv series mad men by a graphic designer named Saul Bass. This is presented in a poster format that has a silhouette figure of a man in a suit with text above him. this is presented as a very clean and simple piece. the form of the figure is very modern feeling fitting with the modern font type, i think a futura typeface. this piece is visually interesting because of the simplicity in the design and how strong the figure and text make it. Bass uses shape, size variation, color, and balance in this piece to convey his message. overall a strong piece because of the modern feel of the text and the figure.

I found this image online it is done by a freelance web designer. his name is Mustafa he is from london and studied web design there. the work was presented in a portfolio web page displaying the artists work like an advertisment. he uses the text to describe James Brown using adjectives and words from his songs to form the shape of him. this piece is visually intresting because it shows depth and creates facial features by just using text. Mustafa uses many design elements in this piece. he uses line, size variation, direction, contrast, hierarchy, and unity. it is a very balanced piece that has an iconic figure well represented. The type relates to this image because of the funky feel of it, almost a 70's vibe u get from it and the way it form James Browns facial features.

This is a piece by Takashi Murakami called "Mr. Dob", this is one of his signature pieces. It can be found in alot of his work in different shapes sizes and color. He is a famous artist from Japan, some people compare him to Andy Warhol because he will put his name on anything to sell it. He is one of my favorite artists i have a book with this image but i got this off google images. Murakami uses type as a design element in this piece the D and B r used as the inner ear outline, than he uses the O as the outline for Mr. DOB's face. This piece is very interesting and eye catch because of the size of the figures head and the colors he uses. He uses many design principles such as line, shape, size, and color. He relates the use of type with a strong visual image by making it the same color, shape and same style he handled the figure. This is a visually strong image.

This image is from http://www.banksy.co.uk/, the artists name is Banksy he is from the UK. He is a street artist that uses a lot of stencils in his work. not much is known about him he is an anonymous graffiti artist. his work has shown up in cities all over the world.

This piece was on a wall outside in a public area. it is a framed image with a figure on the bottom right side looking down at a price tag hanging under the picture frame. there is a text bubble coming up from the left side of the figure saying " You have got to b kidding me....." directed as a reaction to the price tag. this piece is visually interesting because of the contrast of very elegant frame around a spray painted image. Plus we have all looked at a famous piece of art hanging in a gallery thinking how could this piece sell for that much. this is a visual representation of that feeling you get when see a piece of art like this. Banksy uses line, space, balance and hierarchy in this piece. it is weighted on the right side because of the image and text placement and the figure has a strong use of line. the type relates to the image because of the thought bubble that comes up from the figure it lets you know what the figure is thinking.

I found this piece on google images. the artist is named ikkeno I heard about him from a friend that just got back from england, he is a street artist. He does a lot of his work on street walls, billboards, and on bridges. The piece i chose was done on a street wall it has a stencil of a cow saying "Laugh now , but one day we will meat at McDonalds". It is a parody from another piece of street art done by an artist named Banksy.

Ikkeno uses a big picture of a cow, it looks like the cow is holding a sign where the text is which makes the cow look like hes protesting on the street and the artist uses words to help connect the cow like the word "meat" instead of meet. This piece is visually intresting to me because of how clean and readable it is and its a pretty funny and shocking thing to see if you are walking down the street. the artist used many principals of design on this piece, it has a strong sense of line around the text, has a lot of texture because it is done on a cement wall, it has a big negative shape around the text and the organic shape of the cow. Overall a very creative piece and works well to draw the viewer in.
